The features described below are only available to Employee Community admins. If you have questions about who can or cannot see these settings, please don't hesitate to send us a note.

What is an Audience and how is it different from a Group?

Audiences are an exclusive feature accessible only to admins, designed to enhance the precision of targeting specific and tailored groups of employees within a company. If your intention is to share an update with the entire company, a particular department or location, or a group of employees involved in an ongoing project (such as an Employee Resource Group), Groups remain the optimal tool for this purpose. For detailed instructions on adding employees to Groups, please refer to this guide.

However, there are situations where you may require more customized categorizations of employees, such as the Executive Team, VPs, or EAs. In these cases, they may need to be alerted about Posts from multiple Groups. Rather than enabling the broadcast setting for each Group, they are part of and imposing those updates on other employees, Audiences allow you to ensure that an email notification is sent exclusively to the individuals who absolutely need to see it. This approach avoids overwhelming the rest of your company with irrelevant information.
