We've built Employee Community to be as searchable as possible so that you can quickly and easily find what you're looking for. Employee Community's search tools are visually pretty small, but our Search is a powerful tool. We'll show you how it works.

To use Employee Community's global Search tool.

Your global Search tool can be found by clicking the magnifying glass icon in your top navigation menu. To use this search tool...

  1. Type in your search term.

  2. Then, select a result from the popular options in the dropdown.

  3. OR, use the return key to view a full list of search results.

To understand your search results.

In looking at your Search page, you'll likely see a wide variety of content. This is because Employee Community indexes and searches...

  • Post titles.

  • Post bodies.

  • Comments.

  • Uploaded files that contain text.

  • URL content — all of the text in a URL that has been scraped into Employee Community.

  • User profiles.

  • Group names.

  • Topic names.

  • Resources.

You can use the filters on the left-hand side of the Search page to view the various types of content returned in your results.

You can also use the dropdown at the top right-hand corner of your search results page to display your results by...

  • Relevance.

  • Date.

To search within a Group.

If you'd like to search for something within a specific Group, our Group Search has you covered. To do so...

  • Navigate to the Group in which you'd like to search.

  • Then, at the top right-hand corner of the feed click on the magnifying glass icon.

  • Type in your keyword and press return. This will display the results from content within the Group.

  • If you don't see what you're looking for you can use the Search Everywhere button to search all of Employee Community for your keyword.

To use the search modifiers.

Our search modifiers make it easy to narrow your search based on specific details. Modifier options include...

  • In. This is to find information in a specific Group. Begin typing the name of a specific Group. Once selected, you will find all posts within that Group.

  • Has. This modifier suggests options including file, images, video, event, or URL. If selected, the modifier will show the most recent three articles including your keyword. You can also select a modifier under the has tab and include another term to make your results even more precise.

  • Before. This distinguishes a search that is before your specific date.

  • After. This distinguishes a search that is after your specific date.

  • Skill. If you're looking for an employee with a certain skill, look no further than this modifier. Type in a certain skill and you are good to go.

  • Department. Search your fellow employees by their department.
